sometimes i like to randomly check on my favorite filipino celebrities, and it usually starts off with sarah geronimo, cuz she's freakin' amazing.
here's sarah singing disturbia:
seriously, if it was anyone else in the philippines, i probably wouldn't have watched it the whole way through. but since sarah's freakin' amazing!!!, she can pull it off. i really love how she gets into character and her dancing is better. she is definitely a force to reckon with and i hope she makes it internationally. not necessarily in the US cuz she's too good for our market, although i'd like her to collaborate with US producers. since i think her voice is more suited for more pop/pop rnb, i'd want her to collab with timbo and ne-yo, and maybe even darkchild (since he collabo'ed with utada hikaru). i'd definitely want her to sing something SHE wrote and something written especially for her by dianne warren.
man! i should be her manager! anyway, she's freakin' hot. i love her! gooo sarah!
==================
here's nikki gil singing her song "hear my heart". she's freakin' hot and can play piano! the video reminds me a lil bit of alicia keys' vid of "you don't know my name" cuz of the whole diner thing. for some reason, this song is really catchy to me lol.

Surviving the Filthy Rich
Yet another new CW show called "Surviving the Filthy Rich" starring Joanna Garcia ("Reba") and Lucy Hale ("Bionic Woman"). I'm a fan of both actresses and so, as usual, I'm gonna tune in for them and see how the show goes.
Oh yeah, in case you're wondering, this show is also based on a book called "How To Teach Filthy Rich Girls" by best-selling author Zoey Dean.

I know it's been while since 90210 was on television, but what surprised me the most was how the CW network revived it for a new generation of fans. Yes, who cannot forget that theme song (especially that guitar intro!) - when you hear it, all you can think of is that 90210 intro with the cast. hehe.
I must admit, I'm actually interested on how they'll put together the new show. Hopefully we'll also get more than a couple cameos from the original cast members other than Jennie Garth (who was my favorite, but still wished she ended up with Brandon instead of Dillon).

Miri-Ben Ari : mixing genres and making it work
There are few artists out in the industry that i think are really great musicians. And Miri-Ben Ari is one of them. Also known as The Hip-Hop Violinist, Miri-Ben Ari has collaborated with other artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Wyclef Jean, and Alicia Keys just to name a few. She is known for her fusion of classical style with jazz, R&B and hip hop, and it is her background in classical music that makes her collaborations work. Not many artists can play off classical music and hip-hop, and Miri-Ben Ari is so good at her craft that you can't resist not listening to what she might put together. She's already released an album, "Miri-Ben Ari : The Hip Hop violonist" with collabortations with today's current R&B and Hip-Hop artists.
I can't wait to see what she's got for her future projects. (Hopefully a new album, *crosses fingers). All in all, Miri-Ben Ari is great at what she does. A real true artist and musician. Here are some videos of Miri-Ben Ari that i love watching...
*Enjoy.

More Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet
I know that I just made an earlier post about Lola Douglas's books but i just wanted to say that i just finished reading her second book. Funny story actually, and well, i did pre-order the paperback version of her second book (not out til' February 28), but i couldn't wait to read the sequel. I decided to go to my local library, went under the young adults section, grabbed the book off the shelf, and with my library card in hand - let the librarian scanned the book and my card. yes, i've said this before and i'll say it again - "I'm such a nerd." I mean, come on, i'm actually reading books. and yes, 2 books within 3 days.
With that in mind, i guess it's true when it comes to books. You'll know that it's a really good book when you find yourself not putting it down.
oh yeah, i almost forgot to talk about the book "More Confessions..." As per usual, Lola Douglas does a really good job with real, emotional, and witty dialogue. I really did enjoy reading the book, and the ending was actually quite good. It fits. It made perfect sense as to why it ended the way it did, i guess it gave much incentive for the readers to assume what "happens next."
All in all, a great read.
Another funny part, non-related to the book, is that i spent most of today reading the book (with the occasional bathroom break, food break, and nap time).

True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet
I did something that i don't normally do this past weekend - i finished a whole entire book. You may wonder why i did so, well, i did it because i was curious as to what the book was about. It all started about a month and a half ago when i read some article on the internet that singer JoJo was going to be in a Lifetime movie based on a popular book called "True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet" by Lola Douglas. And as usual, i read up on what kinda of book it was. The plot seems interesting because JoJo will play a famous young actress who kind of pulls a "Lindsay" (enters rehab) but then, as a way to save her career, moves to Indiana with her Aunt and pretty much hides out until she was ready to go back to L.A. Here's the picture of the book by the way:
It's a good read, and the author puts in humor alongside social issues that some young adults face today.
With that in mind, now i'm venturing off into the book's sequel "More Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet."
I haven't read it yet, but i also heard this book was a good follow up. I'll give more comments once i finish it.
til next time, enjoy a wonderful Tuesday.

Cassie - "Is It You" (Official Music Video)
Ever since this song leaked onto the radio last summer, I've always thought that it was really good. And now, after hearing the video version (or video edit version of the song; or whatever you guys want to call it), it makes me like the song even more. I just love the piano intro.
Also, since this song is featured on the new upcoming movie Step Up 2: The Streets, the music video of course includes movie clips (as do all songs featured on movie soundtracks). I know Cassie is in the movie playing the role of a young dancer name Sophie and you could kind of tell that she'll be the popular/bitchy-type character (obviously not the main girl who gets the guy at the end).
I don't know if it's the nice piano intro, or the choice of video clips selected particularly for her character, or Cassie's way of singing the song as a sad-like but honest perspective on her side of this very typical and almost cliched story (where you often find leading characters having conflicts with one another but then ultimately become friends at the end), this video just makes me empathize with Cassie's character, especially at the one part wear she simply glances over and sees the guy and knows that she is already losing him. The movie does look interesting, and i may possibly watch it out of curiosity. =)
The song rocks and the video looks good.
So here's her new video...

Selena Gomez - "Cruella De ViIl" (short clip)
So when i think of the song "cruella de vil" from the Disney movie "101 Dalmations," i couldn't help but think of the previous people who re-sang the song for Disney Mania (e.g Lalaine and Hayden Panettiere). But when i heard that Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place) was going to do her version of it, i must admit, i was a bit unsure of it. I mean, she's a great singer, and i like the theme song to her show - but what i was unsure of was the song she had picked out. c'mon, "cruella de vil"?! for me, none of the past singers have made me like their version of the song until now. to be honest, after hearing Selena's version of it, i'm glad that my expectations of another "eh" performance was proven wrong. Selena does a good job rockin it out, despite it being another "cruella de vil" song. It's catchy, fun, and down right makes you wanna dance. You go Selena Gomez!
-btw, in case you are wondering. the music video if for the upcoming re-release of 101 Dalmations.
*Enjoy.

Kelly Rowland ft. Travis McCoy - Daylight (Music Video)
I've always loved Kelly even more than Beyonce. And I'm glad that this song will be in her re-released album. It's a great song, and I have it on repeat. You go Kelly!
I heart Ellen Page
After I saw her on Letterman and I thought her interview was quite funny. She has a good sense of humor. I can't wait to see Juno.
